What it is
We believe in natural lip enhancement: better definition, better hydration and volume in proportion with the rest of your face, without the artificial effect sometimes associated with this treatment.
What it can help with
With age, lips lose volume, hydration and definition of the border; for other people, thin or asymmetric lips are simply a feature they have never felt comfortable with. Hyaluronic acid corrects this gradually and reversibly, without surgery.
It is not always about volume
Often what is missing is not size but definition, hydration or symmetry.
Loss with age
Over the years lips lose volume, the border blurs and fine vertical lines appear around them.
Naturally thin lips
A feature many people have never felt comfortable with, correctable gradually and reversibly.
Asymmetry and dryness
Differences between upper and lower lip, or dry, dull lips that improve markedly with deep hydration alone.
How it works
We assess shape and proportion, agree the result with you, apply topical anaesthetic and place hyaluronic acid with a technique matched to the goal — volume, border definition or hydration.
What can be worked on
Volume
Moderate, proportionate enhancement respecting the natural relationship between upper and lower lip.
Border definition
Outlining the vermilion border, restoring sharpness without necessarily adding size.
Hydration
More fluid products that improve texture and plumpness with minimal volume increase.
Symmetry
Correcting differences between the two sides or between upper and lower lip.
Who it may suit
It suits thin lips or lips with little border definition, mild asymmetries between upper and lower lip, and anyone wanting a subtle, proportionate result rather than a dramatic change.
Benefits and limitations
Results are immediate with no social downtime beyond possible mild swelling, and are reversible. The effect lasts 9–12 months, so maintenance is needed to keep it.
What to expect afterwards
First 48 hours
Obvious swelling and sometimes a small bruise. This is normal and is not the final result: apply gentle cold and be patient.
First week
Swelling subsides and the lips settle. You may feel small irregularities that resolve on their own.
From two weeks
The definitive result. This is when to assess it and, if anything needs adjusting, do a small touch-up.
Aftercare: gentle cold for the first hours (never ice directly on skin), no intense exercise, sauna or extreme heat for 48 hours, no massaging, no alcohol on day one, and tell us beforehand if you get recurrent cold sores.
Why Clínica Lubens
Our priority is proportion, not maximum volume. If you want a heavily augmented look, we will tell you honestly whether that is compatible with a harmonious result.

Common questions
- Will people be able to tell?
- We work with moderate volumes in proportion with your face, so the result looks like a more defined version of your own lips rather than an obvious change.
- Does it hurt?
- We use topical anaesthetic to minimise discomfort, and the product itself usually contains anaesthetic. There may be mild swelling for the first 24–48 hours.
- How long does it last?
- Between 9 and 12 months depending on the product, the area and your metabolism. Lips are a very mobile area, so product is reabsorbed a little faster than elsewhere.
- What if I do not like the result?
- Hyaluronic acid is reabsorbable and, if necessary, can be dissolved with a specific enzyme. Even so, the best safeguard is the assessment: we agree the result with you before treating.
- How will they look immediately afterwards?
- Swollen: that is normal and not the final result. Swelling subsides within 24–48 hours and the real result is visible after a week. Do not judge it on the day.
- Can I do it before an event?
- Yes, but with time to spare: we recommend at least two weeks, so swelling has fully settled and there is room for a touch-up if needed.
- Can lips be hydrated without adding volume?
- Yes. More fluid products improve hydration and texture with barely any volume increase. It is a popular option for people who simply want less dry, better-looking lips.
- Are there cases where it is not recommended?
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding, an active cold sore, infection in the area, autoimmune disease in a flare, or allergy to the components. If you get recurrent cold sores, we assess it and prescribe preventive treatment first.
